Island

5ft Island Starting at:

Big Box Store: $2,000

iCabinets: $1,090.00

The island can turn a one-wall kitchen into a galley style, and an L-shaped layout into a horseshoe. This addition is a highly functional and welcomed addition to an established kitchen layout, but is best used in a large or open floorplan. This work surface may contain more than one feature, such as cabinets for storage, a sink, appliances, a wine cooler, or - with the simple addition of stools - a countertop space for eating.

One Wall

10ft Kitchen Starting at:

Big Box Store: $5,000

iCabinets: $2,250

Originally called the "Pullman kitchen” for its resemblance to a long sleeper car on a Pullman passenger train, the one-wall kitchen layout is a great solution for smaller spaces because of its practical design and space saving elements. Cabinets and appliances are fixed on a single wall, as if it was a long hallway. This design is also easily modified, and allows for an island to be easily added.

L Shape

10ft Kitchen Starting at:

Big Box Store: $5,500

iCabinets:$2,970

Best for a small to medium sized space, an L-shaped kitchen maximizes space by efficiently featuring corner cabinetry. The L-shaped kitchen features two countertops on adjoining perpendicular walls, forming an L. This shape can be divided with visual elements like a corner sink or a wine rack.

Galley

10x10 Kitchen Starting at:

Big Box Store: $6,500

iCabinets: $4,200

This simple layout is ideal for one-cook kitchens, and is characterized by two parallel countertops with a walkway in between them. Galleys are the most budget-conscious and straight-forward design choice, as they make the best use of space with minimal need for customization.

U Shape

8x12x8 Kitchen Starting at:

Big Box Store: $9,000

iCabinets: $5,100

Described effectively by the name, the U-shape kitchen layout has three walls of cabinets. Best applied to a wide floor plan, this design can also be achieved through adding an island to an existing L-Shape layout. The U-shape kitchen is ideal for larger homes and families, as there is plenty of room for multiple people in the kitchen.
